Abstract: During the Early Modern Age, despite the challenges put in place by the opening of new global routes, the Mediterranean and the Venetian Republic continued to play a pivotal role in the new economic and commercial scenario. Foreign merchants, with their professional skills and connections, had a decisive importance in these processes of progressive integration. Through the analysis of notarial documentation, the objective of this paper is to analyze the characteristics of the activity of some exponents of these communities operating in the Piazza Realtina to underline their central hinge function between local, Mediterranean, and global markets.
